NORTHBOROUGH — The Northborough Design Review Committee reviewed a 150-child Celebree School child care center proposed for 300 West Main Street and weighed changes to a new industrial headquarters building planned at Bartlett and Lyman streets. Architect Derek Rubinoff and Boxcroft representative John Hajar presented an 11,216-square-foot building design, staggered drop-off schedules and a six-inch rain garden that one member called unsafe for young children. Engineering representative Patrick defended revisions to a 2021-approved factory design, including removing an offset wall pattern, while acknowledging "a lot of pushback on the changes." The project includes roughly $100,000 in landscaping and 259 trees and shrubs, plus a $25,000 contingency fund for added screening requested by neighbors, the Stone family.
The committee also approved, in concept, a two-tenant sign design for 75 West Main Street, and continued a sign application for 17 West Main Street after the applicant failed to appear.
