Northborough's Select Board voted 5-0 to appoint Keith Darling as the town's next fire chief, following Deputy Fire Chief Neal Espizzi's withdrawal from the post. Chair Jonathan Rea said Darling, a 24-year Franklin Fire Department veteran and U.S. Army veteran, starts October 1.

Commission rejects monitoring well in 3-2 vote
Northborough's Conservation Commission voted 3-2 against requiring a groundwater monitoring well at the Knox Trail subdivision's stormwater basin. Chair Greg Young and member Dan Clark favored the well; members Justin Dufresne, Todd Helwig and Kelley Marston opposed it.
