Select Board appoints new fire chief to building panel

Northborough residents asked the Select Board to confront Amazon over planned drone deliveries that could blanket neighborhoods with noise up to 84 decibels. Residents Kevin and Joan Foy, of 26 Sunset Drive, described a Sept. 24 Amazon information session in Westborough attended by roughly 200 people, where the company outlined plans for up to 1,000 deliveries a day within a roughly 7.5-mile radius reaching into Northborough. Select Board Chair Jonathan Rea said he would meet with Amazon government liaison Jonathan Greeley and weigh a public forum.

The board also voted unanimously to appoint Fire Chief Keith Darling to the Fire Station Building Committee and filled four other committee vacancies, including Sylvia Pabreza to the Community Preservation Committee. Separately, Grafton Town Administrator Evan Brassard told the board Grafton expects to save about $400,000 annually and have roughly $7 million in technology upgrades covered by the state by joining the Metro West Regional Emergency Communications Center.
