School Committees Approve Superintendent's $22,750 Raise
School Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Northborough-Southborough school committees raise superintendent's salary, pause a cell phone tracking app after backlash. The four joint boards voted to give Superintendent Gregory Martineau a $22,750 "market correction," raising his base pay to $270,213 retroactive to July 1 and extending his contract through 2028; Northborough's own vote was 4-1. Separately, Algonquin Regional High School Principal Sean Bevin said the district is holding off on the Doorman phone-restriction app after a technical glitch and parent pushback, sticking with existing phone caddies for now.
District data showed 40 to 46.5 percent of Algonquin students screen at or above a threshold for "problematic or risky internet use." Special education advocate Joey Ford alleged in public comment "the weaponization of the Department of Children and Families" against families and said he would file open-meeting-law complaints over unstreamed meetings. The district also closed fiscal 2026 with a $431,947 surplus and accepted a $41,000 DESE grant.
