Northborough Council on Aging skips July meeting as strategic planning outreach continues
NORTHBOROUGH — June 9, 2026 — Northborough Council on Aging reviews 146-response survey and advances strategic planning outreach. The council, chaired by Fran Baxter, approved amended May minutes reassigning staff outreach duties, then reviewed community survey results showing 45 percent of the 146 respondents visit the senior center weekly and only one cited location as a barrier to attendance. Educational programs and exercise topped the list of desired activities, while comments called for expanded evening and Friday hours — despite Tuesday evening attendance running low. The Friends of the Senior Center reported $15,049.97 in support provided so far in 2026, current membership of 764, and declined a $7,800 request from the North Shore Recreation Association for school athletic equipment as outside the group's mission. The council voted to skip its July 14 meeting and will resume in August, with Director Carol and Baxter drafting a strategic plan narrative ahead of fall meetings and a Select Board department-head presentation penciled in for July.
