Planning Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026

Northborough's Planning Board continued a hearing on a proposed Celebree School child care center at 300 West Main Street to October 20, pending a stormwater and groundwater review from engineering firm SanTec. The board voted 5-0 to continue the application, which would replace a vacant Santander Bank building with an 11,216-square-foot school serving up to 150 children under franchisee Rohan Kalra. Architect Derek Rubinoff described a design "inspired by traditional New England schoolhouses," while members pressed on drop-off queuing risks on West Main Street and a proposed sign that exceeds the town's height cap, requiring a separate Zoning Board of Appeals variance.

The board also voted 5-0 to adopt a 2026 update to its Design Review Guidelines, the first substantive rewrite since roughly 2012, after incorporating amendments from member Carter Brennan on ADA language, open space and sidewalk continuity.
