Planning Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026

NORTHBOROUGH — The Northborough Planning Board approved a scenic road permit for a Crawford Street driveway and signed off on an 11,216-square-foot school site plan at 300 West Main Street. Board member Carter Brennan cast the lone no vote, 4-1, on the Crawford Street permit, arguing a variance for shared driveway access would have been "preferable" to removing 36 feet of stone wall and four street trees. Design engineer Mark Eldag said the steep lot required grading "on each side of the driveway." The board unanimously approved six zoning waivers for the West Main Street school, after splitting 4-1, Brennan again dissenting, on whether the site plan adequately addressed pedestrian safety.

Property owner John Hajar told the board, "I've owned the property for, gosh, since the late 90s. There's no pedestrians." The school's operator, listed as "Celebrity," said it needs only 30 to 32 of the site's 169 required parking spaces.
